SMaRC 2.0 is an ecosystem of core and affiliated projects. The core hosts two PhD projects, on change detection and on adaptive sampling strategies. Among the affiliated projects, ARC at Örebro University studies complex docking. SMaRC also takes part in several European Defence Fund (EDF) projects, including SEACURE, ASTERION and SHIELD. In addition, ALARS studies the aerial recovery of AUVs, and Kingdom of Colors uses hyperspectral imaging to study algae.
