Day 38: Mapping out the ice front

Sorry for not posting on the blog. We arrived at Petermann two days ago and everybody onboard has been super busy. Petermann’s floating ice shelf seems to be affected by meltwater and the plan is to study the front with as many sensors as possible. The KTH sonar is mounted on one of the smaller boats to map out the ice front and Kunniganna is prepared to be launched into one of the smaller bays formed in the ice shelf, probably due to melt water. Then, the inflatable hull of ANATRA will be used to carry the water column sensor and search for underwater plums.
Getting closer to the end, I would like to take the opportunity again to mention some of the heroic contributions made by all our guys at home. In this post, I want to mention Aldo Terán Espinoza, who made all the preparations for Kunniganna.

Sorry, I have to run to the CTD it’s on its way down.
